Welcoming Baby: Upper East Side Newborn Photoshoot

We first met this family when we photographed their first baby at one year old, and we’ve stayed connected ever since. When baby number two was on the way, we captured a maternity session, and recently, a newborn session in their Upper East Side apartment.

Jonica, one of our SHK photographers, took these photos, focusing on the genuine connections within the family. It was sweet to see the big sister’s natural affection for her new baby sibling—a bond that’s just starting to form.

From a technical perspective, even though we were indoors, we relied on natural light to keep the images looking soft and airy. We love to use the natural light available in your home to create a warm and inviting feel in the photos. The only thing we usually ask families is to tuck away any extra items that might clutter the background—closets are our best friends for this!

These sessions are all about keeping things relaxed and real. We love to capture the honest moments and interactions that reflect the family as they are, without any fuss.
